This Sunday afternoon, RSC Anderlecht hosted Antwerp FC at the Lotto Park. Compared to last weekend's match against RFC Seraing, Kristian Arnstad (suspended) and Mario Stroeykens were replaced in the starting line-up by Majeed Ashimeru and Francis Amuzu (ill last week). The two teams failed to score, so Sporting had to settle for a point.
Brian Riemer's team had plenty of possession in the first half, but there were few chances on either side. Although our purple and white had the upper hand in the match, they failed to find the back of the net. Only Arbnor Muja and Yari Verschaeren managed an attempt before the break.
In the second half, the visitors came out better and Bart Verbruggen, man of the match, was on duty with three decisive saves on shots by Gyrano Kerk, Michel Ange Balikwisha and Arbnor Muja. RSCA found its way back into the game. Calvin Stengs was shown a red card for a foul on Amadou Diawara.
Anderlecht were only up with one man more for 15 minutes. For Benito Raman got a second yellow card not much later. Neither team could claim the three points. Next week, Sporting will travel to KV Oostende in the league on Friday night.
