KRC Genk 2-0 RSCA

GENK - RSCA

After eleven unbeaten matches in all competitions, Sporting suffered a defeat in Genk, which remains undefeated at home. Another strong performance by Colin Coosemans was not enough to leave the Cegeka Arena with points. Anderlecht will look to bounce back on Friday at Lotto Park in the last match of 2024 against Dender.

The home side started the game with more intensity and created a good chance for Tolu Arokodare, but Colin Coosemans kept the ball out with his left foot. Anderlecht then grew into the match but failed to create any significant opportunities. After half an hour, Tolu Arokodare opened the scoring from close range following a cross from the right. A few minutes later, Anderlecht responded through Samuel Edozie, whose shot was well saved by Hendrik Van Crombrugge. Shortly afterward, Coosemans prevented the home team from doubling their lead with an excellent save in a one-on-one situation with Zakaria El Ouahdi.

Shortly after the break, Coosemans tipped a free kick from Kostas Karetsas out of the top corner. A few minutes later, Van Crombrugge matched his effort with a save on a low shot from Samuel Edozie, who had created space with a fine dribble. Around the hour mark, Théo Leoni and Yari Verschaeren were replaced by Francis Amuzu and Tristan Degreef. Shortly afterward, Degreef’s effort narrowly missed the target. With just over 15 minutes remaining, the home side doubled their lead through Kostas Karetsas. Anderlecht tried to score a late goal in the final quarter of an hour but could not succeed. Final score: 2-0.
