Sunday afternoon, RSCA headed to Den Dreef for the 30th game day of the Jupiler Pro League. Both OHL and RSCA would enter the top 8 with a win. Coach Brian Riemer brought three new names between the lines after the European victory over Villarreal. Islam Slimani, Majeed Ashimeru and Killian Sardella replaced Lior Refaelov, Moussa N'Diaye and Benito Raman in the starting lineup. The Mauves took three important points and thus ends the 30th day of play in place 8 in the standings.
The first chance of the match was one for Casper de Norre. He tested the alertness of Bart Verbruggen, but he was not in danger. On the opposite side, Francis Amuzu put Yari Verschaeren on his way to goal, but his shot was blocked by a Leuven defender. Unfortunately, it was one of Verschaeren's last exploits. Moments later, his knee made an unfortunate twist after a duel, forcing the No. 10 to leave the field injured. Kristian Arnstad replaced him in midfield. After 20 minutes of play, Mousa Tamari and Jan Vertonghen kicked at goal along both sides of the pitch, both without much success. But the 0-1 would still fall in the first half: Anders Dreyer was hit in the sixteen after an assist on the ankle, causing RSCA to be awarded a penalty. Islam Slimani put himself behind the ball, and the Algerian did not hesitate. 0-1, a deserved lead at halftime.
After halftime, Bart Verbruggen again proved his worth for Sporting. Twice he saved the day with fantastic saves. The home team stepped up the pressure and the game became more and more tense, but the Mauves kept their composure and gradually became more dangerous. Fifteen minutes before the end, Amir Murillo tapped the 0-2 into the nets, but his goal was disallowed for offside after a VAR intervention. But the 0-2 came anyway. Kristian Arnstad set up an individual action and managed to find the nets in the far corner at a welcome moment. The Norwegian celebrated his first professional goal for RSCA with a backflip as sensational as the goal itself. Francis Amuzu then almost put the 0-3 on the board, but the three points were already assured for RSCA. It thus jumps to eighth place in the standings, a spot that could mean a ticket to Playoff II at the end of the season.
