On matchday four, RSCA received KVC Westerlo in the Lotto Park. A sunny Sunday afternoon, on which some new names came between the lines. Anders Dreyer was suspended, Francis Amuzu and Mario Stroeykens also lost their sport in the starting eleven. Benito Raman got his chance in the 11, and newcomers Flips and Rits also got a first place in the starting lineup. They won 2-1 in their debut game.
A game cannot start much better than how RSCA started against Westerlo. In minute 1, Théo Leoni found Kasper Dolberg from the left side, who immediately found the nets. Moments later, Sporting almost doubled their lead on a free kick by Alexis Flips, but Moussa N'Diaye's header went wide. The team from Kempen then came into the game a little more, although RSCA continued to dominate. Nick Gillekens had to save for a cross from Killian Sardella that drifted towards the top bins, and Benito Raman too almost scored.
Sporting also had opportunities after the break, including a crossed header from Jan Vertonghen, but didn’t manage to score. Until - after a few substitutions - Jan Vertonghen unleashed his devils. The record international turned away from his defender after he got the ball on a set piece, and slotted it home with his right. Westerlo managed to score the 2-1 via Edisson Jordanov, but RSCA still kept the three points in Brussels.
