On the penultimate matchday of the Champions' Play-Offs, Sporting Club hosted Brugge for a match at the top of the standings. On the field: no Thomas Delaney (suspended), but Mario Stroeykens in central midfield. Francis Amuzu started on the left, Yari took up the number 10. The match ended 0-1 for Club Brugge, meaning RSCA is suddenly third with one match left to play.
The first minutes were very closed, with the first chance only coming after fifteen minutes of play. An attempt by Ferran Jutgla just missed target. But on the next attempt, Brugge took the lead. Club Brugge were awarded a corner, and Dennis Odoi managed to outwit Kasper Schmeichel with a subtle deviation. RSCA responded with a dangerous attempt from Kasper Dolberg, but Mignolet managed to save. On the other side then, Kasper Schmeichel had to save an attempt by Ferran Jutgla. Before half-time, Sporting had one more chance, but Gattoni's header went over.
RSCA did better in the second half. Mats Rits was the first to get a chance. Francis Amuzu also attempted twice, without ever really being able to create much danger. The biggest chance in the second half came for Club Brugge. Hugo Vetlessen headed the ball, but his attempt ended up on the crossbar. Despite a number of substitutions, RSCA was never able to create danger again. They are left empty-handed and have to start the final matchday in third place.
