Sporting received Club Brugge for the 12th matchday at home at Lotto Park. Young Lucas Stassin (17 years old) started in the starting line-up for the first time. Despite a good game and chances in the closing stages, Sporting never managed to score the equaliser.
The topper started intensely, with a first good chance for Fábio Silva on a pass in the box from Amadou Diawara after 20 minutes of play. Moments later, debutant Lucas Stassin hit the post via Simon Mignolet's hand. Despite a good first half, the first half ended scoreless.

After the break, more chances came. The first good occassion for Brugge in the second half was for Kamal Sowah, but his effort went straight at Hendrik Van Crombrugge. Moments later, our captain had to stretch again on a shot by Ferran Jutglà. And the visiting captain also had to stay alert: at the other end, Mignolet saved well on a shot by Kristian Arnstad.
After 20 minutes in the second period, the opening goal came anyway. Hans Vanaken served Casper Nielsen who found the nets: 0-1. Needing to look for the equaliser, Felice Mazzù brought some new names into play. After that, it was RSCA that took the upper hand and created had the best chances, but the visiting goalkeeper prevented Sporting from scoring on several occasions. First on an excellent header by Wesley Hoedt on a corner, a little later on a cross-shot by substitute Yari Verschaeren.
In the closing stages, the Bruges goalkeeper helped the visitors all the way to the three points after he twice prevented Fábio Silva from scoring. Abakar Sylla then had to leave the pitch early because of a foul tackle on Mario Stroeykens. Final score 0-1.
