64 years. 22 seasons serving purple and white. And a long list of Neerpede alumni who will carry him in their hearts forever. Physical coach Hubert Lemaire will retire after the current season. The whole club wants to thank Hubert for his wonderful work over the years.
Hubert Lemaire has left a lasting impression on his colleagues, players and coaches in Neerpede since his first steps at purple-white in 2002. As physical coach, he contributed to the development of a whole series of top players produced by our Academy. An attempt at an anthology: Vincent Kompany, Anthony Vanden Borre, Dries Mertens, Dennis Praet, Romelu Lukaku, Youri Tielemans, Leander Dendoncker, Jérémy Doku, Orel Mangala, Sebastiaan Bornauw, Wout Faes, Julien Duranville, and so many other young talents.
Hubert also worked on the staff of head coaches such as Frank Vercauteren, Ariel Jacobs, John Van Den Brom, Besnik Hasi and with the U23s with Nicolas Frutos, Jonas De Roeck and Emilio Ferrera, among others.
Hubert announced after the last game of the RSCA Futures that he will retire at the end of this season. In those two decades, our préparateur physique went on to experience a whole array of unique moments. "There are almost too many to choose from, but I will cherish forever, among others, the title against Zulte Waregem in 2013, the Youth League semi-finals in 2015 and 2016, the championships with the U23s in 2017 and 2018 and their cup victory in 2022. But above all, I am proud to have been able to contribute to the development of all those young players playing at the highest level today. It gives me so much pleasure to see them succeed individually and collectively."
The ever-good-humoured Hubert concludes with a heartfelt word of thanks. "I will always remain grateful to Anderlecht for all those wonderful years. I will forever remain the first fan of the youth academy, of our players and of our beautiful club."
Thank you for everything, Hubert, and enjoy your well-deserved retirement.
