RSC Anderlecht won 0-1 against Young Boys BSC thanks to a goal from Hannes Delcroix. A good result with a view to the return match of the UEFA Conference League play-off next Thursday at the Lotto Park.
The Swiss stepped up the pressure from the start. Zesiger's header missed the target. Hendrik Van Crombrugge then had to intervene twice. First on attempt from Elia and then on the rebound. After that, RSC Anderlecht gradually got into the game and Bern's pressure eased. Nevertheless, Sporting could not create any real chances before the break. Adrien Trebel fell heavily on his shoulder and was replaced by Marco Kana at the break.
Sporting started the second half better. Hannes Delcroix opened the scoring on the hour. Shots from Wesley Hoedt and Fábio Silva were first saved, but our central defender did not hesitate to score. A free kick from Rieder fell on the bar, although Hendrik Van Crombrugge judged the situation well. An attempt by Garcia narrowly missed the goal frame, but our players kept the game well closed. Sebastiano Esposito missed a chance to double the lead in the absolute end.
