West Ham managed to secure a place in the Conference League by finishing 7th in the Premier League last year. It was thus 2 points off the so-called 'Big 6'. The team features a lot of internationals such as Declan Rice & Jarrod Bowen (England), Thomas Soucek & Vladimir Coufal (Czech Republic) and Michail Antonio (Jamaica).
Last transfer summer, it managed to add six more current internationals with Gianluca Scamacca & Emerson (Italy), Maxwel Cornet (Ivory Coast), Thilo Kehrer (Germany), Alphonse Areola (France) and Lucas Paquetá (Brazil). The latter played with Olympique Lyonnais as recently as July at the Lotto Park during the gala match. Clearly, coach David Moyes has a strong squad at his disposal.
This season, the Hammers had a difficult start to the Premier League. Last Sunday, they did manage to win at home against Wolverhampton (2-0). It puts them in provisional 15th place. In the Conference League, West Ham fared better, winning against both Silkeborg (2-3) and FCSB (3-1).
