Craig Bellamy (39) signed a three-year agreement today with RSC Anderlecht. He will be in charge of the U21 team. The Welshman played for different teams across the United Kingdom, such as Liverpool FC and Manchester City. He also played 78 games for the Welsh national football team. Bellamy was captain of the British selection during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. In the last few years he was active in Cardiff City’s youth academy.
“We are very happy with Craig’s arrival at RSC Anderlecht. He has a lot of experience and will be a great mentor for our youth players mentally speaking, but also in terms of football skills. As coach of the U21 team, his task will be to prepare our young talents for the first team”, Youth Director Jean Kindermans explains.
“The appointment of Craig proves we continue our efforts to improve our youth development”, Sports Director Michael Verschueren confirms. “He will be working closely together with Vincent Kompany, Simon Davies and our Academy coaches to make the transition into the senior squad easier for our ‘purple talents’.”
