RSC Anderlecht took a heavy blow on the damaged pitch of competition leader Club Brugge on the nineteenth matchday of the Jupiler Pro League. The team from West-Flanders took the Purple & White by surprise and won 5-0.
Not a lot of scoring opportunities were created in the first half, although the home team was the most dangerous. Halfway through the first half, Boeckx had to make a save on a centre by Wesley, and two minutes later on, Dendoncker saved an averted shot by the Brazilian on the line. The Purple & White tried to react, but Hanni was not able to reach Beric and Dendoncker’s shot was blocked by Butelle. In barely one minute’s time, two goals went in on the verge of half-time: Abdoulay Diaby scored twice, once after a misunderstanding between Boeckx and Spajic.
After some ten minutes in the second half, a penalty was awarded to the home team after a foul by Obradovic. Ruud Vormer converted the penalty and put the 3-0 on the board. An attempt by Butelle, on a free kick by Kums, went long. After 73 minutes, a second penalty followed for the home team, Jelle Vossen did not fail. Substitute Bruno tried, but the goal was scored on the other side: 5-0 via a header by Hans Vanaken. A heavy blow for RSCA. Anderlecht will take on KAS Eupen on Friday.
