RSC Anderlecht welcomes Thomas Delaney. The 31-year-old Danish midfielder joins us on loan from Sevilla FC to play at the Lotto Park this season.
Thomas is an experienced central midfielder. He has 71 caps for the Danish national team and played, among others, at the 2020 Euros and the 2018 and 2022 World Cup. At a club level, he had his breakthrough at his childhood club FC Copenhagen, where he went on to win 5 Danish titles and 4 cups. After 7 years in the first team, Thomas moved to Germany, where he played 1 season with Werder Bremen before making the move to Borussia Dortmund. In Dortmund, Thomas managed to add the German Cup and the German Super Cup to his trophy cabinet.
After three seasons at Dortmund and 113 games in the Bundesliga, Thomas moved to Sevilla FC. He played 47 games in La Liga and brought his total amount of games in the Champions League to 38. Thomas spent the past six months on loan with German side Hoffenheim.
CEO Sports Jesper Fredberg:
“We’re very happy to be adding Thomas to our squad. He has leadership qualities, he brings with him his experience at a very high international level and he can help us to find the right composure in our midfield.”
Thomas Delaney:
"I am honoured to represent this club. I have known Anderlecht for a long time, I had both Ariel Jacobs and Brian Riemer as coaches at FC Copenhagen. I want to bring my experience and energy to the group and contribute to that winner's mentality."
