BEERSCHOT - RSCA

On Thursday, Sporting traveled to ‘t Kiel for the last quarterfinal of the Croky Cup. Leander Dendoncker played in the heart of the defense for the occasion. Following a hard-fought match in which both teams gave their all for 98 minutes, David Hubert’s men secured their place in the semifinals. Next week, the Mauves will take on Antwerp FC at the Lotto Park.

The Brussels side started the match strongly. Thanks to a precise free kick from Ludwig Augustinsson, Luis Vázquez was able to head towards goal. His attempt was parried by goalkeeper Shinton into the path of Jan-Carlo Simic, who slotted home the opener just two minutes into the game. The home team responded after 15 minutes through Antoine Colassin, but captain Colin Coosemans made the save. Half an hour in, shots from Killian Sardella and Anders Dreyer forced Beerschot’s goalkeeper into action again. Despite the intensity of the match, the halftime score remained 0-1.

After the break, Ludwig Augustinsson was replaced by Thomas Foket. Sporting came close to doubling the lead, but Anders Dreyer’s curling effort was denied by Shinton. The Rats tried to fight back but lacked the finishing touch.
