RSCA hosted Standard this Sunday in the third Clasico of the season, their second in the competition. Sporting had to settle for a hard-fought point thanks to two goals from Anders Dreyer.
Kasper Dolberg was close to the opening goal from the start. But the first fifteen minutes were evenly matched, with neither team getting many chances. Twenty minutes into the second half, Yari Verschaeren ran deep and perfectly gave Anders Dreyer the ball from the edge of the penalty area. Anders’ shot had no chance for Arnaud Bodart. Liège hit back through Hayao Kawabe, whose shot hit the post. After half an hour, Steven Alzate hit the post again. After Mario Stroeykens decided wide on one side and Isaac Price on the other, it was ultimately Hayao Kawabe who equalized in injury time after a cross from Marlon Fossey.
Wilfried Kanga shot just wide at the start of the second half, but the Ivorian still gave his team the lead after a nice assist from Steven Alzate. After an hour, Yari Verschaeren, Mario Stroeykens and Kasper Dolberg were replaced by Théo Leoni, Francis Amuzu and Lucas Vázquez. Anders Dreyer's shot from Thomas Delaney's rebound went just over. With fifteen minutes to go, Dreyers’ free kick hit the post and Arnaud Bodart made a great save on Luis Vázquez's rebound. The action continued and Zeno Debast's shot was blocked in the penalty area by a hand from Marlon Fossey. Anders Dreyer used the penalty to level the score. Not much later, Arnaud Bodart saved an attempt by Francis Amuzu. Both sides played to win, but ultimately had to settle for a logical draw.
