On Tuesday night, RSCA hosted KRC Genk for a game of the fifth matchday of the Jupiler Pro League. Sporting fielded a much-changed line-up compared to last weekend's game against Westerlo. Kasper Dolberg, Mats Rits, Thomas Foket, Samuel Edozie and Mario Stroeykens were all in the starting line-up. After putting Pär Zetterberg in the spotlight, Sporting unfortunately lost 0-2 to Genk.
The visitors were awarded a penalty early on, but Colin Coosemans saved well (twice). Hendrik Van Crombrugge then blocked Kasper Dolberg's effort and Tolu Arokodare came close at the other end. After a quarter of an hour, Colin Coosemans again saved a shot from Yira Sor. Anderlecht hit back on the half-hour mark, but Hendrik Van Crombrugge saved again. In the end, it was Genk that took the lead thanks to Mujaid Sadick. Mario Stroeykens his shot went over in the closing stages and Colin Coosemans made a fine save on Tolu Arokodare in injury time.
Francis Amuzu made way for Yari Verschaeren immediately after the second half. Verschaeren and Thomas Foket saw their attempts blocked by the defence. Moments later, an effort by Kasper Dolberg went over the goal and another header by the Danish striker went wide. A number of changes were made to the Brussels eleven, but it was Yira Sor who missed the target when he was face-to-face with Colin Coosemans. Sporting tried to apply pressure and two attempts by Kasper Dolberg were saved by Hendrik Van Crombrugge. Unfortunately, it was Noah Adedeji-Sternberg who ended all tension at the end of regular playing time: 0-2, the final score of this match.
