Yari Verschaeren: 100 games in purple and white

RSC Anderlecht went to the Elindus Arena on Saturday evening for the match against SV Zulte Waregem. Sporting won the game with 1-2 after goals from Christian Kouamé and Lior Rafaelov. The 3 points were not the only reason for satisfaction.

Yari Verschaeren was celebrating twice. Besides the victory, The Kid could also celebrate his hundredth game in the shirt of RSC Anderlecht.

The Neerpede youth product made his debut in November 2018 on the pitch of STVV at the age of 17. Since then, the number 51 managed to score 17 times and also has 17 assists on his counter.

The 20-year-old Verschaeren made his debut with the Belgian Red Devils in 2019 and has 8 caps. Coach Kompany had nice words for the right-footed striker during the pre-match press conference. Today Yari reaches a high level in a comfortable way. That is indicative of the transition from a youth talent to a full-fledged professional footballer. If he can continue that line, Yari undoubtedly has a great career ahead of him.”

Yari himself also took the floor after his special game.

“For me personally, those 100 caps are nice to achieve. I was aware of it lately and I'm super happy with this milestone. Too bad I couldn't score a goal, although I was really keen on it. I was very pleased that all the staff members also knew about my 100 caps. I hope that when I am here for my 200th game, I can say that I have won several collective awards.”
