UEFA has announced the following sanctions after the incidents in the away end at the Reale Arena in San Sebastián, during the game against Real Sociedad on 3 October:
-
The activation of the conditional sanction of 1 European away game without fans
-
Two additional European away games without fans
-
A fine of EUR 60,000
- Compensating Real Sociedad for the damage to the stadium infrastructure
This means that the remaining three away games in the League Phase of the Europa League, against Rigas FS, Slavia Prague and Viktoria Pilsen, will be played without RSC Anderlecht supporters. Fans who have bought tickets through a fan club can contact their fan club directly. Fans who bought tickets online will automatically receive a refund in the course of next week.
RSC Anderlecht imposes its own sanctions
RSC Anderlecht did not await the sanctions by UEFA and has already taken its own measures. In cooperation with the Spanish and Belgian police forces, eight persons involved have been identified, five of whom were directly involved in damaging the stadium infrastructure and throwing projectiles into Real Sociedad's box. With immediate effect, these individuals will be banned from our stadium and from all away games. They will also be held liable for the damages suffered. Fan group Mauves Army had already been banned from the remaining trips in the League Phase of the Europa League and will also not be allowed to travel to the next three away games against Beerschot, Club Brugge and Tubize (Croky Cup).
The club stresses that it will never tolerate such behaviour and will always take appropriate sanctions against the ones involved.
