Thomas Foket is a Sportingboy. Always been. The 29-year-old Belgian joins us from Stade de Reims and signs a contract until 2027.
Growing up in the outskirts of Brussels, Thomas Foket came to know RSC Anderlecht at a very young age. At the age of 16, as a midfielder, he combined his matches at Dilbeek Sport with trainings with the U18 and the RSC Anderlecht's U23s. He eventually made his debut in professional football with KAA Gent in July 2012.
After a loan spell at KV Oostende, Thomas developed into a true stronghold at right-back at Gent. He stayed there for six seasons, winning the league in the 2014/2015 season. It also earned him his first call-up for the national team in 2016.
In the summer of 2018, Thomas made the switch to Stade de Reims. Once again, the Belgian stayed with the French first division side from Reims for no less than six seasons. He played 189 games there. Thanks to his consistent performances at Stade de Reims, Thomas also participated in the 2021 World Cup qualifying campaign and the 2022 Nations League with the Red Devils.
With no less than 405 games on his tally at the highest level, Thomas now returns to his first love.
CEO Sports Jesper Fredberg:
“We’re really happy to bring Thomas to RSC Anderlecht. We continue to look to strengthen the squad and add more competition, which we believe we will get with Thomas. Thomas is a hard working player, experienced, tactically disciplined and always gives his everything on the pitch. And finally, as we all know, Thomas has known and loved this club for a long time, making this a very suitable match.”
Thomas Foket:
"This is literally a childhood dream coming true. I have been a lifelong fan of this wonderful club since childhood. It was always in my head to be able to play here one day, and it is a blissful feeling to really be able to put on this shirt now. I also think this is the ideal moment to make this step. The real work only starts now, I am really looking forward to it."
