Amadou Diawara and Majeed Ashimeru are selected by their national federations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (the competition having been postponed last year) which will take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024 in Côte d' Ivoire, in five cities (Abidjan, Bouaké, Korhogo, San-Pédro and Yamoussoukro) and six different stadiums (two in Abidjan).
Guinea was placed in a group with Cameroon, Zambia and Senegal. The Syli National (national elephant) will begin its journey on Monday January 15 against the Cameroonian Indomitable Lions. Ghana will face Cape Verde, Egypt and Mozambique. The Black Stars will begin the competition against the Tubarões Azuls (Blue Sharks) of Cape Verde on Sunday January 14.
The top two from each of the six qualifying groups will automatically qualify for the round of 16. This will also be the case for the four best third-placed teams, so the fight will be fierce until the third matches. We therefore wish Amadou Diawara and Majeed Ashimeru and all their teammates every success in their tournament.
